Taylor Stubblefield finished the 2004 football season with 16 touchdown receptions to set the Purdue school record. The Boilers played 11 regular season games and appeared at the Sun Bowl. Stubblefield finished the season with 89 receptions and 1,095 yards.

The record was previously shared by Vinny Sutherland and John Standeford.

In 2000 Vinny Sutherland caught 13 touchdown passes in a season that Purdue played 11 regular season games and made a Rose Bowl appearance. Sutherland finished the season with 72 receptions for 1,014 yards.

In 2002 John Standeford caught 13 touchdowns passes in a season that Purdue played 12 regular season games and appeared at the Sun Bowl. Standeford finished the season with 75 receptions and 1,307 yards. 1,307 yards stands as the Purdue record for most receiving yards in a single season.
