Before kickoff of the Purdue vs Bowling Green State University game at Ross-Ade Stadium seasoned football fans expected to see a high-yardage display (500 yards total offense and 40 points) by one of the offensive units. That is almost how this game unfolded. However, to the disappointment of Purdue fans BGSU was the team with the offensive display. The Purdue offensive performance can only be summarized as a team effort. With good field position the entire game the Boilermaker offense did not produce the high-yardage Boiler fans have come to expect. Purdue's 2003 Offense managed 255 yards passing/receiving and 66 net yards on 20 rushes from the running back position. Three offensive fumbles, losing one, brought back nightmares of the 2002 season for Boilermaker fans.
On the BGSU side of the ball QB Josh Harris was impressive under pressure. Harris completed 22 of 40 passes (55% completions) for 357 yards and added 34 net yards rushing. Harris threw touchdown passes of 11,8, and 32 yards. BGSU averaged 16.2 yards per catch. Bowling Green K Shaun Suisham made field goals from 37 and 47 yards after missing one from 34 yards.
