SEC member Tennessee led the nation in home attendance for the 2004 football season with 7 home games and a Neyland Stadium record crowd of 109,061 on Sepember 18, 2004 for Tennessee vs Florida. Tennessee is initiating a stadium renovation project that will eventually decrease Neyland's capacity to about 101,000.
